UFC 264 Results: Poirier vs. McGregor III
Ending their trilogy in the most brutal and anti-climactic fashion, Conor McGregor would suffer a nasty leg injury at the end of the first round to hand Dustin Poirier the TKO win.
With both fighters operating at a high pace as they exchanged kicks with one another, Poirier would go on to land a flurry of punches on McGregor that saw the two fall into a clinch with the latter jumping on a guillotine attempt.
After a brief struggle that saw Poirier escape and remain on top raining down blows, the two fighters would eventually return to their feet with the injury occurring soon after.
With both men throwing punches at the same time, McGregor’s ankle would roll underneath him leaving his foot at a distorted angle. ‘The Notorious One’ would scream out in agony and fall to the mat just as the klaxon sounded for the end of the first stanza, ultimately bringing an abrupt end to a bout that Poirier was looking bright in.
