At the second time of asking, Francis Ngannou can now call himself the baddest man on the planet.
Showcasing patience and strong takedown defence, Francis Ngannou would score a second-round knockout of Stipe Miocic with a short left hook.
Starting the fight off with heavy blows that Miocic seemingly shrugged off, Ngannou would deter the champion’s lone takedown attempt as he stuffed the attempt and briefly took his back.
With the first round in the bag for the challenger, Miocic would look to land some offence of his own and began to push the pace. Coming forward however would see Ngannou drop Miocic only for the champion to quickly bounce back up to his feet. Seeking immediate revenge, Miocic would then land a punch of his own that put his opponent on the back foot. Sensing an opportunity, Miocic would come forward once more only to be met with a short left hook that folded the champion and secured the heavyweight championship for Ngannou.
