Khamzat Chimaev withdraws from Leon Edwards main event
One of the first UFC events of 2021 has received a major setback.
As first reported by FrontKick Online before further confirmation by ESPN, Khamzat Chimaev has been forced to withdraw from his main event bout against Leon Edwards on January 20th for undisclosed reasons.
Edwards would seemingly confirm that the bout has been scrapped on social media before calling out fellow welterweight top contender Jorge Masvidal.
Rest up Khamzat, i'm sure ill see you soon. But I want to fight January 20th on the island @danawhite @seanshelby @ufc lets make it happen

With Chimaev out of contention for the ‘Fight Island’ event, this marks the second time that a fight between the Russian-born Swede and Birmingham’s Edwards has been scrapped in two months. Due to a COVID-19 infection ahead of their originally scheduled December 19th fight, Edwards was forced to postpone their five-round fight into the new year.
