Capping off a finish-heavy fight card, Cory Sandhagen scored a TKO win over the #1 ranked contender Marlon Moraes with a spectacular spinning wheel kick.

Both Moraes and Sandhagen started off the main event bout with diverse strikes in a fast-paced first round, setting up what promised to be a tightly-contested affair.

Once the second round started, however, Sandhagen seemingly hit another gear and quickly proclaimed to have broken Moraes’ orbital bone after a flurry of strikes. With Sandhagen ramping up the pressure, a spinning wheel kick found its mark and sent the Brazilian stumbling back towards the cage.

With Moraes grounded, Sandhagen followed up with some swift ground and pound and forced the contest to be waved off.

Elsewhere at UFC Fight Night 179, and perhaps most notably, Joaquin Buckley scored what looks to be the leading contender for KO of the year against Impa Kasanganay after a two-touch spinning back kick to the face.
