Yair Rodriguez vs. Zabit Magomedharipov has fallen through once again.

Confirmed by UFC president Dana White following ‘Dana White’s Contender Series‘ on Tuesday, Rodriguez has suffered an ankle injury ruling him out of his August 29th main event bout.

According to ESPN sources, the promotion has yet to finalize their decision on whether to find a replacement opponent for Magomedsharipov although Calvin Kattar, who lost a unanimous decision to Magomedsharipov in November, has volunteered to step in on short notice.

Rodriguez and Magomedsharipov had been expected to fight at UFC 228 in September 2018 before an injury suffered by Rodriguez again forced the Mexican fighter to withdraw from the bout.

Magomedsharipov (18-1) is currently on a 14-fight winning streak, including his six bouts under the UFC banner. The 29-year old Dagestanian last competed against Calvin Kattar in a three-round main event.

Rodriguez (13-2, 1 NC) meanwhile most recently defeated Jeremy Stephens via unanimous decision in October 2019.
