In a fight that more than lived up to its billing, Dustin Poirier edged ahead on the scorecards against Dan Hooker after both men routinely swung for the fences in an exhaustive five-round battle.

While round one was an entertaining affair in its own right, the second stanza saw the fight really kick into gear with both men looking to take the others head clean off in a frontrunner for the round of the year.

The third and fourth would see the ground game come into play as both Poirier and Hooker visibly slowed but the back-and-forth action didn’t stop.

With the fight poised at 2-2 heading into the fifth, Poirier was seemingly the fresher of the two as his accuracy and output saw him get the nod on all three scorecards.
