Volkan Oezdemir vs. Jiri Prochazka set for UFC 251
The UFC debut of former RIZIN champion Jiri Prochazka looks set to match the Czech fighter against another hard-hitting light heavyweight.
As first reported by ESPN’s Brett Okamoto, Prochazka will take on former UFC title challenger Volkan Oezdemir on July 11th at UFC 251.
Prochazka (26-3-1) is currently on an 11-fight winning streak which dates back to 2015. The 27-year old signed with the UFC last year following the end of his RIZIN contract, leaving the Japan-based promotion as their light heavyweight champion. Prochazka last fought on New Years Eve 2019 where he recorded his 23rd career KO against C.B. Dollaway.
Oezdemir (17-4) meanwhile will enter the bout on a two-fight winning streak having earned back-to-back wins over Ilir Latifi and Aleksandar Rakic. The Swiss fighter burst onto the UFC scene in 2017 and quickly rattled off three wins en route to an unsuccessful title shot against Daniel Cormier.
