After postponements and a series of call-outs, Tyron Woodley and Gilbert Burns will meet in the octagon later this month.

As confirmed by Burns himself on social media and later corroborated by ESPN, the Brazilian and former 170 lbs champion will square off in the main event of UFC Fight Night 176 on May 30th at a location to be announced.

Woodley (19-4-1) has yet to fight since losing his welterweight title to Kamaru Usman in March 2019 but had been scheduled to face Leon Edwards before the COVID-19 pandemic postponed UFC: London. Woodley had been on a seven-fight unbeaten run prior to meeting Usman and is currently ranked #15 on the UFC’s pound-for-pound rankings.

Burns (18-3) meanwhile will enter the event on a five-fight winning streak. The 33-year old Brazilian has rapidly climbed the promotion’s welterweight rankings and is currently ranked #6 in the welterweight division after most recently defeating Demian Maia via first-round TKO.
