UFC on ESPN 8 Results: Overeem vs. Harris
Despite being dropped in the first-round, Alistair Overeem rallied back from adversity to control Walt Harris on the mat before securing a second-round TKO win.
With Harris landing a big punch early in the fight, the ‘Big Ticket’ looked set to secure another fast stoppage win to his already impressive resume. As Overeem turtled on the mat however, ‘The Demolition Man’ quickly regained his composure and wits as he returned to his feet.
With the cobwebs shaken off, and a cut over his eye for his troubles, Overeem managed to ground Harris and keep him pinned against the cage to ride out the end of round one.
Round two would see Harris noticeably slower in his movements and a big high kick from Overeem capitalised on a more stagnant opponent. Scoring a knockdown of his own, Overeem never let up on his advantage and with the Dutchman raining down ground-and-pound from back mount, referee Dan Miragliotta was given no choice but to wave off the contest.
