In a remarkably close and brilliantly entertaining battle, hometown hero Dan Hooker was given the nod via split decision against Paul Felder in what will go down as one of the fights of the year.

Playing out as a clash between Hooker’s rangier attacks to Felder’s more punishing blows, it was ‘The Hangman’s’ stinging jab and calf kicks that racked up his rounds as his jab in particularly quickly closed the right eye of ‘The Irish Dragon’.

Felder would rebound and adjust however as he began to find a more consistent home for his hooks over the course of the fight, swelling the jaw of the New Zealander in the process.

Once the 25 minutes had finally played out, however, any animosity between the two was replaced by immense respect.
