A high-ranking heavyweight match-up between Alistair Overeem and Walt Harris has been rebooked for April.
With the UFC confirming the bout on Saturday during their UFC 247 broadcast, Overeem and Harris will meet in the main event of UFC Fight Night 172 on April 11th in Portland, Oregon.
Overeem and Harris had been originally expected to fight in December 2019 but tragedy struck the Harris family as he withdrew from the contest due to the search of his late step-daughter Aniah Blanchard.
Overeem (45-18, 1 NC) will enter the fight coming off of a KO loss to Harris’ replacement, Jairzinho Rozenstruik. Overeem had been on a two-fight winning streak prior to meeting Rozenstruik after scoring back-to-back TKO wins over Sergei Pavlovich and Alexei Oleinik. The Dutch striker is one of the most accomplished fighters in MMA heavyweight history after holding titles in both Strikeforce and DREAM. The 39-year old was also the first fighter to simultaneously hold world titles in both MMA and kickboxing.
Harris (13-7, 1 NC) meanwhile will enter his first UFC headline spot riding a three-fight unbeaten streak, broken up by a no-contest against Andrei Arlovski in 2018. ‘The Big Ticket’ has won his last two fights in a combined total of 62 seconds and has won all of his 13 professional wins via KO or TKO.
