UFC Fight Night 158 Results: Cerrone vs. Gaethje
Despite offering up a more subdued performance, Justin Gaethje still recorded a first-round finish as he defeated Donald Cerrone in the main event of UFC Fight Night 158.
From the get-go, Gaethje controlled the pace of the bout as his punishing leg kicks dealt the most damage early on. While ‘The Highlight’ wasn’t nearly as reckless and aggressive as he has been in the past, Cerrone struggled with getting a foothold into the bout.
With a minute left of the first round, however, Gaethje waded into the pocket and landed a flush right hand that put Cerrone down. ‘Cowboy’ would regain his footing soon after but another heavy blow, this time an uppercut, put him down for good after a hesitant stoppage from referee Jerin Valel.
