Darren Till’s proposed move to middleweight has been officially postponed as the Scouser is all set for a high-ranking welterweight clash.

As reported by ESPN’s Brett Okamoto via UFC president Dana White, Till will headline the promotions return to the UK in March as he takes on the #9 ranked Jorge Masvidal at UFC: London.

Till (17-1-1) last fought at UFC 228 where he suffered the first loss of his career in a welterweight title fight against Tyron Woodley. ‘The Gorilla’ was on the wrong end of a second-round D’arce choke at the hands of the champion and soon after proclaimed the fight to be his last at the 170 lbs limit.

With Dana White confirming that Till will continue in the welterweight division for the time being, the 26-year old will want to regain the form that saw him go unbeaten in his first six fights under the UFC banner and earn wins over the likes of Donald Cerrone and Stephen Thompson.

Masvidal (32-13), meanwhile is currently on a two-fight losing streak after defeats to Demian Maia and Stephen Thompson respectively. ‘Gamebred’ had been pencilled in to face Nick Diaz in his return bout but the proposed contest was unable to come to fruition.

In addition to the Till – Masvidal main event, White has also confirmed with ESPN that Leon Edwards will take on Gunnar Nelson in another high-ranking welterweight affair at the March 16th event.

Edwards (16-3) is currently ranked #10 in the 170 lbs division and is on a six-fight winning streak after his latest victory in June 2018 against Donald Cerrone.

His opponent, Iceland’s Gunnar Nelson (17-3-1), returned to the win column at UFC 231 in December where he defeated Alex Oliveira via a second-round rear-naked choke.
