UFC strawweight champion Rose Namajunas is reportedly all set to defend her title in her next challengers home country.
According to UFC president Dana White via Brett Okamoto at ESPN, Namajunas will go into hostile territory on May 11th to face Jessica Andrade at UFC 237 in Brazil.
Namajunas (8-3) claimed the 115 lbs title in November 2017 when she knocked out the long-reigning Joanna Jedrzejczyk inside one round at Madison Square Garden. ‘Thug Rose’ would then successfully defend her title in an instant rematch, this time winning via unanimous decision in April 2018 but has since been absent from the Octagon due to a neck injury.
Andrade (19-6) meanwhile is currently on a three-fight winning streak since losing her first strawweight title challenge against Jedrzejczyk. The Brazilian would go on to defeat Claudia Gadelha and Tecia Torres before most recently knocking out Karolina Kowalkiewicz at UFC 228 in September 2018.
While UFC 237 has not yet received an official venue, the promotion has confirmed that the PPV event will take place in Brazil.
