Report: UFC trigger exit clause on upcoming Eleven Sports deal
The UFC has reportedly triggered an exit clause on their upcoming UK broadcast deal with streaming service Eleven Sports.
With the UFC’s current broadcast deal with BT Sports expiring in the new year, the MMA promotion had signed a deal with Eleven Sports bringing an end to a five-year relationship with BT.
According to The Telegraph, however, the UFC has ‘triggered an exit clause on its exclusive deal’ following a failure by Eleven Sports to gain widespread distribution via TV operators such as Sky or Virgin Media.
The report also goes on to detail that the UFC have now entered ’emergency discussions about a new deal with its existing partner BT Sport to ensure fans can continue to access coverage.’
The UFC’s decision to leave BT and sign with Eleven Sports in September caused widespread disappointment with UK fans after the service provider embraced the sport with original content and their ease of accessibility.
