Despite acting as a potential replacement for UFC 228’s welterweight title main event, Kamaru Usman is seemingly set to fight at least once more before a potential championship fight.
According to a report by Combate, former UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos will square off with Usman at The Ultimate Fighter 28 Finale main event on November 30th in a 170 lbs title eliminator.
Usman (13-1) has gone unbeaten during his UFC tenure thus far and emerged the winner of The Ultimate Fighter 21. ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ is currently on a 12-fight win streak dating back to 2013 and most recently defeated former UFC title challenger Demian Maia via unanimous decision at UFC: Chile in May.
Dos Anjos (28-10) meanwhile will look to bounce back from his first defeat at welterweight. ‘RDA’ had gone 3-0 at 170 lbs since moving up a weight class in 2017 and even recorded a win over former champion Robbie Lawler. At UFC 225 however, the Brazilian fighter suffered a loss at the hands of Colby Covington in an interim welterweight title fight.
The Ultimate Fighter 28 Finale is set to take place in Las Vegas, Nevada and is also expected to feature a high ranking bantamweight fight in Pedro Munhoz vs Bryan Caraway.
