Dana White addresses a potential Conor McGregor – Georges St-Pierre fight
UFC president Dana White has admitted the only way Georges St-Pierre will take on either Conor McGregor or Khabib Nurmagomedov inside the Octagon will be if the Canadian can prove he can make the 155lbs weight limit, the Daily Express report.
St-Pierre has his sights set on becoming the UFC’s first three-weight world champion with a victory at lightweight level.
The Canadian is hoping to face Irishman McGregor, providing ‘The Notorious’ misses out on a jail sentence after being charged with three counts of assault and one of criminal mischief after his recent antics in Brooklyn.
When asked about the possibility of the Canadian dropping down to fight at lightweight level, White admitted he would have to prove himself at that level before facing either McGregor or Nurmagomedov.
First of all, I don’t know if he can make the weight, number one. 85, 55. Listen, if Georges St-Pierre wants to fight at 155lbs; prove he can make it and fight the No.1 contender down there. Then absolutely I’ll do it.
Despite admitting St-Pierre has a chance at facing either McGregor or Nurmagomedov in the future, the UFC president also revealed that a meeting between McGregor and Nurmagomedov is high up on the UFC’s agenda.
I think Khabib is a massive fight with Conor. I think that’s the fight that has to happen right now.
