UFC Fight Night 129 Results: Maia vs Usman
With a perfect display of takedown defence, Kamaru Usman routinely swathed off Demain Maia’s attempts to implement his jiu-jitsu game and romped home to a unanimous decision victory.
While it wasn’t the best performance of the ‘Nigerian Nightmare’s’ career, Usman can add another dominant win to his resume and will now be looking for a title eliminator in his next bout as his winning streak reaches 12 in a row. Maia meanwhile is now on a three-fight losing streak for the first time in his career.
Elsewhere at the UFC’s first visit to Chile, Tatiana Suarez scored the biggest win of her career in the co-main event with a first-round submission over Alexa Grasso while the light heavyweight division’s hottest prospect Dominick Reyes continued to impress as a huge uppercut to Jared Cannonier earned a first-round TKO victory.
