Faced with the most terrifying challenger of his heavyweight reign, Stipe Miocic made use of his greater arsenal of tools over five rounds and in the process, made history.
With a unanimous 50-44 decision victory, Miocic routinely took Francis Ngannou to the mat and broke the UFC record for the most consecutive heavyweight title defences with three.
As Miocic said in his post-fight interview: “I may not be the scariest but I’m the baddest.”
Meanwhile, in the co-main event, Daniel Cormier put the demons of Jon Jones behind him as his incredible wrestling ability was too much for Volkan Oezdemir and once securing the crucifix position in the second round, Cormier made sure he would successfully retain his light heavyweight championship.
