Belfort claims Mayweather would lose to teenagers
MMA veteran Vitor Belfort has suggested that Floyd Mayweather would struggle to beat teenagers in an octagon contest.
With rumours circulating that the 50-0 retired boxer is preparing to step into a modified MMA fight with Conor McGregor, the 41-year-old may run into some troubles – at least in the mind of Belfort.
Belfort has been in the MMA game since 1996, and has seen a seemingly endless conveyor belt of UFC stars come across his path in what has been a distinguished career.
Crossing codes is no mean feat in the eyes of Belfort, as he said:
I think he doesn’t have a chance even against the young kids, 15,14-year-olds,
He has a lot to learn on the ground, kicks. With his arms, on his weight, he’s a phenom. Now, involving legs and other things, no chance.
Mayweather defeated McGregor in a tenth round stoppage, and almost immediately after the referee waved his hands, the question was being asked of whether or not an octagon-based rematch would happen.
Despite initially being dismissed, it appears as though an MMA contest between Mayweather and McGregor might be closer than we thought it ever would be.
