Conor McGregor’s striking coach Owen Roddy has revealed that the Irish fighter is itching to return to the UFC, according to a report on the Express.
Roddy claims that his fighter is eager to return to the sport as soon as possible after being out of UFC action since his iconic UFC 205 victory over Eddie Alvarez.
McGregor created history with that victory as he became the first-ever UFC fighter to be the champion of two different weight classes at the same time.
The 29-year-old has since ventured into boxing to face rival Floyd Mayweather but was defeated comfortably by the American.
McGregor is now keen to return to the UFC to reclaim his lightweight belt after he was stripped for not competing in the sport for a prolonged period of time.
We can’t really talk about when he wants to return. But he’s adamant he’s getting back.
The UFC is really missing Conor, I believe. And I think everybody is missing the whole extravaganza of a Conor McGregor fight. There’s nothing like it in the world.
And I think the people in the world want to see it again. The sooner the better.
Dana White has also been talking about McGregor’s return to the cage and expects an announcement to be made soon.
