While UFC Fight Night 125 may have started off with some exciting bouts, the UFC’s first event from Brazil this year quickly devolved into something much slower and in one particular bout, something much more sinister.

In the main event, Lyoto Machida’s pot-shotting counter style earned him a drab split-decision win over prospect Eryk Anders but the most prominent fight in the aftermath of UFC: Belem was no doubt Valentina Shevchenko vs. Priscila Cachoeira.

You’d be hard-pressed to find a more blatant mismatch in modern UFC history on paper but when the bout played out in front of our eyes, the fight was actually painful to watch and those culpable – the UFC itself, referee Mario Yamasaki and Cachoeira’s corner – should all be ashamed of their actions.
