UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway’s first title defence is finally official.

After being confirmed by MMAFighting.com, Max Holloway will take on Frankie Edgar in the main event of UFC 218. The PPV event is set to take place on December 2nd in Detroit.

Currently riding an 11-fight win streak, Holloway (18-3) captured the UFC’s featherweight title in a title unification bout against Jose Aldo at UFC 212 in Brazil. Since last losing to Conor McGregor in 2013, the Hawaiian fighter has defeated the likes of Cub Swanson, Ricardo Lamas, Anthony Pettis and Jose Aldo finishing eight of his opponents on his current win streak.

Edgar (22-5-1) meanwhile, has gone 7-2 since moving down to featherweight with his only losses coming in two title attempts versus Jose Aldo. Edgar is currently on a two-fight win streak after most recently causing a doctors stoppage against Yair Rodriguez and the former UFC lightweight champion holds the promotional record for the most amount of time spent in the Octagon at 6 hours and 27 minutes.

UFC 218 is also slated to feature a heavyweight bout between Alistair Overeem and Francis Ngannou and a flyweight title eliminator between Henry Cejudo and Sergio Pettis.
