UFC 213 Results: Romero vs Whittaker
On one leg, Robert Whittaker put in a brilliant performance to edge out Yoel Romero and become the new interim middleweight champion.
For the full five rounds, Romero and Whittaker pummelled one another with strike after strike but Romero landed the most meaningful strike in the first round as an oblique kick to Whittaker’s lead leg reaggravated an injury.
From then on Whittaker battled away on a damaged left knee but through his excellent takedown defence, the Australian kept the fight on the feet and took the final three rounds to set up a unification title fight with Michael Bisping.
