Was there ever any doubt?
With a practically flawless performance, Demetrious Johnson tied the UFC record for successive title defences (10) with a third round submission over jiu-jitsu black belt Wilson Reis after pummelling the Brazilian with little in return.
Through body kicks, a laser guided straight right hand and his elusive footwork, ‘Mighty Mouse’ made sure that there was little that Reis could do but feel hopeless against one of, if not the, greatest fighter to step into the cage.
In the co-main event, Rose Namajunas rubber stamped her position as the next women’s strawweight title challenger with a stunning finish of Michelle Waterson. Marking the beginning of the end with a flush head kick, Namajunas piled on the pressure before sinking in a rear-naked choke and leaving ‘The Karate Hottie’ no other option but to tap out.
Elsewhere, Robert Whittaker put on one of the performances of the year as he shut down Jacare’s quest to grapple before a heavy flurry of strikes put an end to the Brazilian’s title charge.
Demetrious Johnson def. Wilson Reis via submission (armbar) (Round 3, 4:49)
