A heavyweight rubber match is being targeted for UFC 213.

FloCombat were the first to report that the UFC are looking to make a third Alistair Overeem – Fabricio Werdum fight and if completed, the trilogy would see each bout stretch across three separate promotions – PRIDE FC, Strikeforce and the UFC.

Overeem (42-15, 1 NC) would enter the prospective bout hot on the heels of a stunning knockout over Mark Hunt at UFC 209. The former K-1 champion is currently 5-1 in his last six bouts with his sole loss coming in a UFC title fight against current heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic.

Werdum (21-6-1), like Overeem, has also bounced back from a losing title fight against Miocic and at UFC 203 recorded a unanimous decision victory over Travis Browne. Since that event, the Brazilian fighter has had two potential bouts fall to the wayside as both match-ups with Cain Velasquez and Junior dos Santos were sidelined.
