Conor McGregor spoke in front of a sold out crowd of 5,000 fans in Manchester in an hour-long unscripted interview at EventCity.
The Irishman arrived in typical style, riding a Rolls-Royce onto the stage and proceeded to speak in his usual brash fashion about a range of subjects from his status in the UFC to a potential super fight with Floyd Mayweather.
Here’s a round-up of the main points that came from the hour-long show:
Floyd Mayweather
On a potential fight with Mayweather, McGregor said:
“I have got my eyes on one thing and that’s Floyd Mayweather. That fight is being more than explored – it has been in the works for a while now. There are a lot of steps to get the fight done, but it’s the fight to make. It’s the one that people want and it’s the fight that I want. Me and Floyd have got to get together and talk the same way him and Manny Pacquiao figured it out.”
Nate Diaz
When discussing about a potential third fight with Nate Diaz, one to settle their rivalry, the Irish star said:
‘I’ll get to Nate. Don’t get me wrong. Me and Nate will throw down again. 100 percent. It’s one apiece. We’ll finish it off. I imagine it’ll be for the lightweight world title.”
Other potential UFC opponents
McGregor obviously doesn’t think much of the potential competition in the UFC. When asked who else he could fight in the future, he wasn’t too complimentary:
**** every one of them. Did you see Anderson [Silva]? What’s Anderson talking about? He keeps mentioning my name over and over again. Look, I’ll fight any one of them. Make sure the numbers are right. Make sure the situation is right. Khabib [Nurmagomedov], what the **** his name is, Tony [Ferguson], Jose [Aldo], even [Tyron] Woodley for the third [title].
McGregor Promotions
McGregor has recently set up a new promotion company and explained the reasons why he’s done so:
“I could help the next generation grow and feed them into the UFC, and then also down the line use that as a negotiation tactic. Eventually get to what I was planning ‘in association with’ (the UFC).”
Wrestlemania appearance
Reports emerged at the weekend which suggested that McGregor had turned down the chance to appear at WWE’s Wrestlemania as the event coincides with the due date of his baby. When asked about working with WWE in the future, he replied:
“Never say never. I’d love to go into WWE and have a real knock and see what’s what. We’ll see. Conversations are still ongoing.”
Victory over Eddie Alvarez
Conor defeated Eddie Alvarez in his last fight, but admitted that he should have actually won the contest earlier.
“I made an error in the first round. I got greedy. That’s the only reason he survived the first round.”
The featherweight title
McGregor was recently stripped of his featherweight title after winning the lightweight belt. Speaking about that, he said:
“Before I even got the [lightweight] belt, they wanted to strip me. All they had to do was ask! I’m still a two-weight world champion, make no mistake about it. How can they claim I’m not a featherweight anymore? Sign on the dotted line and I’ll take it.”
Ronda Rousey
Despite saying that he doesn’t care about Ronda Rousey’s current media blackout, he did say he takes no pleasure in her recent demise:
“I love Ronda. I don’t celebrate another person’s defeat. That’s weak. That is not the sign of a champion.”
Welterweight title
Having already won two world titles, McGregor didn’t rule out a possible welterweight title fight with Tyron Woodley in the future:
“The welterweight situation is a real situation too. I’d slap Woodley around and take that title too.”
Hollywood
McGregor has been linked with some Hollywood appearances in recent months, but he has yet to commit to any of them and said he turned down a recent role:
“There’s a lot of offers I turned down. I turned down the new Predator movie.”
Future child
McGregor revealed that his new baby will be a boy and said that his child will be the only person who’ll ever break his records:
“The only time my records will be broken is by my own spawn!”
