After Ronda Rousey‘s 48-second TKO loss to Amanda Nunes at UFC 207, questions are being asked about what’s next for the 29-year-old.
Despite the rather humiliating defeat, Rousey is still a star attraction and whatever she does, she’ll certainly draw attention.
We’ve taken a look at some of the possible career paths the UFC star could decide to take from this point on:
WWE
Rousey is a huge wrestling fan and appeared at Wresltemania 31, although not as an in-ring competitor. If she wasn’t to stay active but not take real knockout shots to the face, WWE could be for her!
Hollywood
Rousey already has some acting experience. She starred in The Expendables 3 Furious 7, and Entourage and has been cast in the remake of Road House. There’s a chance that she could use her star power in even more movies.
UFC
This is the most unlikely option so far. After suffering a bad injury at UFC 207, Rousey would be taking a huge risk if she stepped back inside the octagon but she’d probably still earn a lot of money if she decided to carry on fighting.
Modelling
Rousey has done modelling work in the past, appearing on the cover of Australian Men’s Fitness, ESPN’s Body Issue, The Ring Magazine and the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. She could decide to leave a career in combat behind and look forward to working in front of a camera.
TV Analyst
In October 2015, Rousey became the first female athlete to guest host ESPN show Sportscenter and by all accounts, she did a very good job. She’s comfortable talking on camera and is clearly very knowledgable about sport, so this is definitely a career path she could take.
Return to Judo
Rousey is an Olympic bronze medal winner at Judo and with the next Olympics taking place in 2020, she could decide to go back to her roots and attempt to win gold.
Do nothing
Rousey is already a very, very wealthy person and probably doesn’t need to work again. She could decide to just put her feet up and make the odd appearance here and there, although this doesn’t seem to be in her nature.
Coaching
Despite being knocked out in her last two fights, Rousey is still an all-time UFC great and she could look to go into coaching and help train up future world champion fighters.
TV presenter
Former NFL star Michael Strahan has shown that sports stars can turn into TV presenters in America and having already tried her hand at this role with her hosting of Saturday Night Live, Rousey could easily follow that route.
Nutritionist
A lot of famous athletes get involved in the food industry when they retire. Rousey has always been an advocate of organic foods and it would be surprise to see her team up with a brand to launch a range of healthy products.
