John Lineker vs John Dodson set to headline UFC FN 96
Two of bantamweights biggest hitters are set to slug it out in the main event of UFC Fight Night 96.
A match-up between Lineker (28-7) and Dodson (18-7) has long been talked about since both men fought in the flyweight division but a five round bout is now officially slated for October 1st.
John Lineker is currently ranked at number 5 in the UFC’s bantamweight rankings and most recently knocked out Michael McDonald in the first round at UFC Fight Night 91.
The Brazilian was forced into a move up in weight class after missing weight in four out of seven bouts at flyweight but has gone 3-0 since the change at bantamweight.
John Dodson meanwhile has only fought once since a return to 135 lbs but also scored a first round knockout in his latest performance at UFC on Fox 19 against Manny Gamburyan.
Dodson started his UFC career at bantamweight where he won The Ultimate Fighter after knocking out future champion T.J Dillashaw. Dodson then moved down to flyweight with the weight class’ introduction in the UFC and lost two unsuccessful challenges for the 125 lbs belt to pound-for-pound king Demetrious Johnson.
